It can be really hard to be a gay man looking for a serious relationship online. The online dating industry puts very little effort into gay dating sites that do anything more than just help men connect for casual relationships. Sites like Manhunt and apps like Grindr are pretty much what the industry has to offer. Sadly, it will probably be a few years before they come around, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a great time for gay men who are looking for the love of their life to get online.
In 2013, we saw some pretty major court cases that changed the game for same sex marriages and relationships, and the recognition they can and should receive. Interestingly, as the courts came around, I started to notice a big jump in the amount of gay men who were coming to ProfileHelper seeking an online dating coach that could help them find a date or potential husband. Now that the government isn’t telling people who they can and cannot marry, there’s been a huge explosion of gay men who are opening themselves up to the idea of something more.
The question is, where do you go to find them? For now, niche sites that cater to the gay dating market are not your friend. Instead, stick to the big four: Match.com, POF.com, Zoosk.com, and OKCupid(to a lesser extent). There are tons of eligible gay men on these sites who left the more traditional same-sex online dating sites because they were tired of guys looking for just a fling.
